Info
The Feminist Welding Club is a group I founded to teach women* welding as an act of self-empowerment. Metal workshops have long been male-dominated spaces where women*’s presence and skills are often undervalued. To counter this, I established the club to provide women with a judgment-free environment for collaborative learning and self-affirmation.
As a result, I designed and welded a break room for the club’s future workshop, which includes a table, clock, vase, and stools made of aluminum. The club members crafted stools and cups from steel. For us, welding is not just a practical skill; it is a powerful expression of community and feminist practice. Together, we are creating a space where access barriers can be broken down and new skills can be learned without prejudice.
